The Finer Details

Step 1 – Text on Cover

A name or other words are debossed on the opening edge of the notebook – between the elastic strap and the edge. Adding a customer’s name to a notebook is guaranteed to increase retention and use.

For corporate customers the text can be the same or for that personal touch each book can be different. Note. for different text on each book a spreadsheet or list can be sent to your account manager.

The impression is created using hot metal mechanical typesetting – the characters are cast from molten metal on a historic linotype machine. There is no minimum order for notebooks with names or text along the opening edge. The name or other words are typeset in 18 point Metrolite, a classic 1930s fluid and readable sans serif. The following characters are available: abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ ?!/&;:.,'()%-

Step 2 – TextStyle

Blind deboss or foil?

A blind deboss is subtle and attractive or for those looking for something a little more lavish – a gold or silver foil is available. Foiling produces the same crisp detail though the impression is more subtle and shallower.

Note. Foil is only available on Leuchhturm notebooks.

Step 3 – Logo on the cover

You brand or logo is blind debossed or foiled on the front cover of the notebook. It’s subtle, tactile and attractive.

The impression never looks tatty and remains crisp for the life of the notebook. The notebooks are a simple but compelling proposition for business gifting and corporate stationery.

To create the impression, we machine a metal plate which has the reversed raised image of your logo or brand. The plate is heated and pressed into the covers of the notebooks. The logo can be placed anywhere on the front covers. The minimum order for notebooks with logos is 25 units – a single colour or mixed colours.

The maximum size of logo – depending on image density – is 110mm by 80mm. We work with a range of file types, ideally 300dpi or higher. You send us the logo, we look after the rest. We can send you a digital mockup of how the notebook will look and a photo of the first notebook off the press for approval.

Note. Our configurator requires a PNG file. It produces a visual guide only. All orders will receive a final digital proof for approval.

Step 4&5 – Notebook Paper  & Colour

We stock a range of colours and styles: Moleskines and Leuchtturms; large and pocket sized; ruled, blank, dotted and squared notebooks. If we don’t have the colour or style you need, we can order in on short lead times.
